Puigmal Via Normal

Puigmal: The summit of Puigmal , located in the Ripollès region  within the natural park of the headwaters of the Ter Freser , with a height of 2914 meters above sea level, is the highest peak in the area, the colossus that everyone seeks to do, even once in a lifetime, in the Puigmal  surely it is a route that will never leave you indifferent, the options to do in the Puigmal are many, the itinerary that we offer is a route of moderate level / initiation by one of the most beautiful zones that we can find. Which is the Fontalba pass.

The route we offer you is to go to the Puigmal from the Fontalba pass, at the end of the road that connects with the town of Queralbs.

The start of the route leaves the Fontalba pass towards the top of Dou, the path begins with a gentle climb, where we will contemplate at all times the alpine meadows through which we advance, without any doubt the views we will have are priceless, a once at the top of Dou we will go towards the Bressol where the ascent is already starting to be stronger, from the Bressol to the top of the Puigmal we will have the strongest ascent, we will surely overcome it!

Once in Puigmal , all we have to do is undo the path we have to climb. Up to the Fontalba pass.

Itineraries:   Coll de Fontalba-Cim de la Dou-el Bressol-Puigmal-el Bressol-Cim de la Dou-Coll de Fontalba.

Elevation gain: 830 meters of accumulated elevation gain and 10.63kms. 4 hours and 30 minutes approximately.

Difficulty: Moderate.

Material to wear: Sunglasses (minimum protection factor 3 or 4), waterproof high mountain boots, (optional.) Two pairs of thick socks,  thermal t-shirt, (1layer.) mountain pants (second layer.) long-sleeved t-shirt (polar fleece.) waterproof jacket, windproof gloves, blouse and a hat. Backpack of about 30 liters

Food to bring: You must bring at least one liter water bottle, food (bars one or two sandwiches minimum and some fruit.
