UNKNOWN LAND

TERRA INCOGNITA is a new circular route of the high mountain refuges that we set up in inhospitable areas of the Alt Urgell and the Pallars Sobirà. Specifically around the Salòria massif and the valleys of Castellbó and Santa Magdalena, making the same peak of the Pic de Salòria, of

2,789 meters high, county roof.

The name Terra Incògnita comes from the fact that we are moving through one of the most unknown and wild parts of the High Pyrenees, with an unparalleled richness of flora and fauna in the mountains. Surely there is a good peak of peaks of more than 2,000 meters that you have certainly not climbed and surely, of which you have not only heard. We are in the most unknown and unknown area of our High Pyrenees.

The route. Very varied, it combines high mountain landscapes, wild and with wide horizons, with villages and huts lost in the vast expanses of the Pallars, with key scenes of historical memory in front of the Pallars (events of the Spanish Civil War of the year 1938) as would be the forest of Baladredo.

However, every day we go around the huge Santa Magdalena Valley, home to the wildest fauna of the High Pyrenees, where we will find, among others, chamois, deer, roosters, badgers and brown bears. Santa Magdalena is probably the largest valley in the Pyrenees without any village (they are only there in the lower part of the Valley: Montenartró and Romadriu), in fact the whole crossing goes around the valley around its perimeter. It is worth mentioning that the design of the route has been done under the cautious supervision of the management of the Natural Park and the passage through areas of special interest for the conservation of wild fauna and flora.

This “white area” of the Sierra is full of colors, sensations and memories. Come and discover the last Incognito Land in the heart of old Europe.
